May – 2009 Presidents Message

May already! Have you sent in your dues? Get them in soon, so you won’t miss out on Parti Gras, the biggest event on Eatons Neck. Parti Gras is May 24 it’s become the unofficial open to the summer social season for POENB.  We usually have 250 people or more; Parti Gras features Crawfish flown-in fresh straight from Louisiana, BBQ Chicken and much more but you can only be part of the fun if you’re a member.  See membership application in this publication or at www.eatonsneck.org .

But membership means so much more than parties and this month you will be seeing your membership dollars at work at Valley Grove where we are planning to break ground on renovations which will include the installation of the custom bricks.

But membership dollars alone are not enough, we need volunteers.  May 17 is Beach Clean-up, even if you can only spare an hour it would be appreciated.  Valley Grove Beach Chair Bob Pisicani is planning to replant some hedges and Price’s Bend projects will include raking the beach, weeding near the play area and the entrances.  Please bring a rake wear long pants, long sleeves, garden gloves and a hat – we’ll have sun screen if you forget yours – water and a nice BBQ lunch at noon. We also need a volunteer for Social Chair to help facilitate with our social events.

There have been several occasions where a resident has driven an ATV (all terrain vehicles) on the road to the entrance at Hobart Beach and used Town Property to access the beach and drive northward along the beach trespassing across multiple homeowners’ properties. Whether or not you’re a resident or a member is not relevant the Town of Huntington expressly prohibits the activity. To Be Clear: To all Residence as per

Town of Huntington Town Code 193-3 (A)No recreational vehicle shall be operated upon the streets, highways, roads, beaches, parks and lands within the Town of Huntington (B) No recreational vehicles shall be operated upon any private property without the express written permission of the owner.  

Thanks to the volunteers who thoughtfully read through the Scholarship Applications. The Scholarship recipient will be announced next month but although there is only one recipient all the applicants are winners as they have established themselves as outstanding students and citizens and are surely well on their way to lives filled with many accomplishments – Congratulations and Best of Luck to all of Eatons Neck Graduating Seniors.

The Economy has hit everyone pretty hard, and now more than ever we need to appreciate how fortunate we all are to be living in this wonderful community – why go vacation – we’re already there!
